Terron Christopher Matasaran, 36, of Bladensburg, is facing second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse charges in connection with the baby’s death, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

The case began on Monday, September 23, 2024, when officers responded to a home on Stewart Lane in Silver Spring for reports of an unresponsive baby boy.

Matasaran, who had been babysitting the infant as a favor to the child’s family, claimed the baby had fallen, officials said. He called the child’s mother at work, and she rushed home to find her son unresponsive.

She immediately called 9-1-1 and began CPR, but first responders pronounced the baby dead at the scene, police said.

Following an autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the child had suffered a head injury and rib fractures, ruling the manner of death as homicide.

Nearly six months later, on Monday, March 3, detectives obtained a warrant for Matasaran’s arrest.

The next day, officers with the Montgomery County Police Task Force and U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested him at his place of employment in Bladensburg.

Matasaran is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
